Why I Joined?
Economic empowerment is the now frontier for the Black power love movement. We have gained certain human/civil rights denied to our race through the laws of the country’s government. But in the process we have lost our business sense because we stopped thinking black, being black and buying black so all else has failed. So 40 years later we do not control the economics in our communities. If we do not control our economics then we do not control the community in which we live! We can not employ our own people especially our youth; and so we have to continue to depend on others to earn income to support our families.
We are not born criminals but through mass media we are projected as being the lowest of humans on the planet, our history and culture has been hidden behind enemy lines for so long that we have disconnected from the source from which we came. Our people and our youth do not want to commit crimes for food, clothes and shelter we have a right to quality education and medical care. This economic system say’s we don’t. The child who goes to sleep without food or water is due to us Black people not learning our economic system, we have bought in to capitalism, which is a lie was created from lies and stands on lies. Thurgood Marshall said hours after retiring from the US Supreme Court; “I’m still not free”.
I once did not know about “PowerNomics” (Dr. Claude Anderson) and how dept makes one a slave! Today though trial and error I have discovered the Black Business Builders Club and I am grateful for its creation. There is no shame in the name, it means what it says. There is nothing wrong with Black people recycling our dollars among us, taking care of our own and building business. But we have been programmed to believe that thinking, being and building black is racism, so we resist the notion that is makes so much sense!
Every other ethic group does it, recycles its money but not us, resulting in us being “depended on another race for our economic existence” (Marcus Garvey). If we do not control the economics in our community then we do not have any power in them, if we are going to rise up and claim what is rightfully ours we need to close ranks in unity of purpose to gain control of the world’s economy starting with us. The system of capitalism is wicked, it is evil, it cares nothing about you or me it never has and it never will! “It is a system based on greed and is profit driven; it is not the African way” (Walter Rodney). The Black Business Builders Club is based on “The Nguzo Saba” (Maulana Karenga). The BBB Club offers us a chance to network, make money, build black businesses and take control of our commUNITY!
This is not a racist note because I as an African I can not be one, it is a love letter to my people...
